It was a huge hit and we got a lot of positive feedback from our readers.

And since we recently purchased an air fryer, we thought it would be fun to try to make a different version for those of you that love cooking with the air fryer!

These keto air fryer dumplings may be mistaken for a meatball, but they taste just like the inner filing of Japanese potstickers, aka gyoza.  We threw out the carb loaded skins and replaced it with a coat of crushed pork rinds.

The result is a keto friendly dumplings crispy on the outside, juicy and creamy on the inside that’ll have you coming back for more!

How do you make keto dumplings?

There’s really no good keto low carb replacement that we have found for dumpling skins so we go without it.  Instead, we focused on making the delicious dumpling filling and coating it in crushed pork rinds bringing out a familiar, yet different type of dumpling.

Why do you use an air fryer for keto dumplings?

Using an air fryer is the quickest, easiest, no fuss way to make these keto dumplings. Not to mention, using an air fryer gives these dumplings a crispy outside while still keeping the inside juicy.  But if you don’t have an air fryer, an oven can work too.

Why do you add cream cheese inside these air fryer dumplings?

Adding cream cheese to the center of these dumplings adds creaminess and flavors that is indescribably good!

Can I eat these air fryer dumplings by itself or is the dipping sauce necessary?

These dumplings have enough flavor so they can be eaten alone or with the easy soy sauce + vinegar dipping sauce that we have included in the recipe.

One note to make is that the meat mixture is very soft, which is normal.  They’ll harden as they cook and ensure a juicy dumpling.

For this dish, the special ingredients you would need are Shiitake Mushroom, Unflavored Pork Rinds, Sesame Oil and Soy Sauce, all of which can picked up on Amazon or a local supermarket.

We also prefer using Pork Panko instead of the Unflavored Pork Rinds, which is basically pre-ground pork rinds ready to use out of the package.

Also you will need Japanese sake.  For reference, here is the Japanese sake we use, but you can use whatever brand you like.  You can substitute this with dry sherry if needed.

Lastly, you’ll also need an air fryer, which if you’re on the fence about, we couldn’t recommend them more!  It’s a deep frying game changer if you dislike traditional frying methods!

Now, if you’re ready, let’s get air frying some keto style dumplings!
