Garlic Butter Sea Salt Cheese Rolls

These easy keto garlic butter sea salt bread rolls are so good you won’t believe they’re low carb!  They’re deliciously cheesy with a hint of garlic baked and topped with butter and sea salt.

If you’ve been following us lately, you know that we have been baking up a storm making different bread rolls to suit our long list of cravings.

Garlic Butter Sea Salt Cheese Rolls torn into two

It started with the green onion cheese rolls, then the cheddar jalapeño rolls, we also made a cheese dog that I highly recommend if you have a craving for pigs in a blanket, low-carb/keto style!

After making all these different low carb bread rolls, I wanted a roll that was pretty basic, one that I could cut in half and use as buns for a tuna sandwich or even a mini meatball sandwich if I felt like it.

This is how these garlic butter sea salt bread rolls came about.  They have just the right amount of flavor but are also basic enough for just about anything you can think of.

This is a low-carb/keto, wheat and gluten-free bread roll that’s made entirely out of cheese and Almond Flour.

So it won’t achieve the same textures of bread made from gluten and wheat, but still taste great!

What you’ll get is a bread roll that’s slightly denser but full, and I mean full of amazing flavors and will satisfy your carb cravings!

Plus these rolls are dense, so they’re ultra filling and one little roll goes a long way!

I recommend eating these cheese rolls warm because they will become denser as they cool.  When this happens, just pop them in the microwave for 10 seconds and they are good to go!

For this recipe, the special ingredients you would need are Almond Flour and Coarse Sea Salt, which can be purchased on Amazon or a local supermarket.

Now if you’re ready, let’s get going!

Total Time 20M

Net Carb/Roll ~2.5g

Servings 6 Rolls

Ingredients

  • 3/4 Cup Almond Flour
  • 1/2 tbsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Onion Powder
  • 2 oz Cream Cheese
  • 1 1/4 Cups Pre-Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1 Egg (Egg Wash)
  • 1 tbsp Butter
  • 1/4 tsp Coarse Sea Salt (MUST be coarse otherwise texture and flavor will be off)
  • Dried Parsley (optional garnish)

Directions

1) Gather all ingredients.

2) Preheat oven to 350F and line baking sheet with silicone baking mat (parchment paper works as well).

3) Combine Almond Flour, garlic powder, onion powder and baking powder in a bowl. Mix well and set aside.

4) In a different large microwavable bowl, add shredded mozzarella and cream cheese.  Microwave for 30-45 seconds, take out and stir, then microwave for 30-45 more seconds and stir again. Continue this process until the cheese is completely melted.

5) Add the Almond Flour mixture into the cheese bowl while still warm, quickly knead with hands until dough like consistency and everything is fully combined.  If dough cools too much just microwave for a few seconds, take out and knead again.

6) Once combined, separate into 6 equal parts, form buns and place onto a silicone baking mat.  Repeat until all the mix is used.

7) Beat egg in a bowl and gently brush onto buns (egg wash).

8) Bake for 15-17 minutes, until buns are firm and slightly golden brown.

9) In the meantime, melt butter in the microwave (around 15-20 seconds).  Once rolls are done, brush melted butter on each roll, add a light pinch of Coarse Sea Salt, optional parsley garnish and enjoy warm!
