The idea to make these biscuits in the air fryer came to me when we were making our garlic butter cheese rolls.

I placed a little bit of dough into the air fryer and out came these little air fryer cheese biscuits that turned out surprisingly well!

They came out a bit more dense and had a heavier biscuit texture to them, so I decided to experiment by making keto air fryer biscuits.

So if you’re a fan of the air fryer like me, these cheese biscuits will be the perfect go-to appetizer to air fry up for your next meal!

How do you make keto biscuits?

The base for these keto biscuits is similar to fat head dough.  It consists of mainly mozzarella cheese, cream cheese, and almond flour.  I also added some seasoning for extra flavor.  There is no wheat flour used for these biscuits and therefore, keto friendly.

Any tips for making the perfect keto air fryer biscuits?

The most important tip would be to work quickly to make sure the dough doesn’t cool down too much.  If it does cool down while mixing, you can just put it back in the microwave for 5-10 seconds to warm up the dough again.

What is the difference between air frying and baked keto cheese biscuits?

The air fryer tends to give these a more biscuit texture while baking gives them a softer texture.

Can I replace the almond flour with other flour substitutes?

Although I do know that people have used other low carb flour substitutes such as coconut flour to make bread alternatives, using other flour substitutes would require different ingredients and totally different ratios.  It definitely wouldn’t be a 1 to 1 sub.

These keto air fryer cheese biscuits are best served warm.  They can be easily warmed by placing in them microwave for 10-15 seconds.

For this recipe, the special ingredients you would need is Almond Flour, which can be purchased on Amazon or a local specialty supermarket.

You’ll also need an air fryer, which if you’re on the fence about, we couldn’t recommend them more!  It’s a deep frying game changer if you dislike traditional frying methods!

Now if you’re ready, let’s get air frying some Keto Air Fryer Cheese Biscuits!

Net Carb/Roll ~2.5g

Ingredients

  • 3/4 Cup Almond Flour
  • 1/2 tbsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 2 oz Cream Cheese
  • 1 1/4 Cups Pre-Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1 Egg (Egg Wash)
  • 2 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Directions

1) Gather all ingredients.

2) Combine Almond Flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and Baking Powder in a bowl. Mix well and set aside.

4) In a different large microwavable bowl, add shredded mozzarella and cream cheese.  Microwave for 30-45 seconds, take out and stir, then microwave for 30-45 more seconds and stir again. Continue this process until the cheese is completely melted.

5) Add the Almond Flour mixture from step 2) into the cheese bowl while still warm, quickly knead with hands until dough like consistency and everything is fully combined.  If dough cools too much just microwave for a few seconds, take out and knead again.

6) Once combined, separate into 6 equal parts, form balls by rolling dough between the palms of your hands and set aside.

7) Beat egg in a bowl and gently brush onto balls (egg wash) and transfer to air fryer tray.   Note – you may need to spray cooking oil to avoid sticking depending on your air fryer.

8) Air fry for 15-17 minutes @ 330F and enjoy by dipping in olive oil.  To reheat the keto biscuits, place in the microwave for 10-15 seconds.
