Like many people, I’m an orange chicken fan, especially from Panda Express!

I have been wanting to try a keto orange chicken for quite some time now, however, making keto or low carb Chinese recipes are always challenging because many dishes require sugar and some kind of starch for thickening.  So finding the perfect ingredient substitutions and ratios always take time and multiple test batches!

Also, traditional orange chicken recipes require frying which I don’t always prefer to do.

It wasn’t until I finally got myself an air fryer and thought, ‘how easy it would be to air fry some pork rind breaded chicken and then toss it in a keto version of orange chicken sauce’.  I mean how hard could it be right?

Well, after multiple batches, turns out it’s really delicious!  And let me tell you, I’m very picky about my orange chicken!

Most importantly, it really satisfies those Chinese food cravings I know many of you have.

How do you make pork rind crumbs?

I know it may seem daunting, but let me tell you that making pork rinds for breading is as easy as throwing Unflavored Pork Rinds into a food processor.  That’s it!  Or you can always order from Pork Panko, which we love and makes things that much easier.

Why Air Fry Keto Orange Chicken?

The reason I chose to air fry rather than do it the traditional way by oil frying is that this way, not only is this dish low carb, but it’s also less greasy since you’re not frying the chicken in oil.  Not to mention, air frying is just so much easier, am I right?

Spicy Fans?

If you like spicy, you can always turn up the heat by adding more Sriracha to the sauce.

Prefer your Keto Orange Chicken Sweeter?

We call for 2 tbsp of Monkfruit to be used in the sauce, which we believe results in a well balanced sauce, but if you prefer your sauce on the sweet side, feel free to add 1/2 – 1 more tbsp of Monkfruit to the sauce!

The ingredients you would need for this recipe are Unflavored Pork Rinds/Pork Panko, Monkfruit, Soy Sauce, Sriracha, and Xanthan Gum, which you can pick up on Amazon or your local supermarket.

You’ll also need an air fryer, which if you’re on the fence about, we couldn’t recommend them more!  It’s a deep frying game changer if you dislike traditional frying methods!

Now, if you’re ready, let’s get Air Frying some Keto Orange Chicken!
