This Keto Beef & Broccoli Stir Fry is a low-carb and healthy version of the classic Chinese beef and broccoli dish. How to make Keto Beef & Broccoli Stir Fry?


  1. Start by preparing the sauce by combining garlic, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sweetener, chicken broth, cooking wine, and thickener. Split the sauce into 2 bowls and in one of the bowls, add sliced beef.
  2. Add oil into a wok or large skillet, bring up to heat, and add in cut broccoli florets. Cook for 1 minute under medium-high heat and transfer to a plate.
  3. Next, add in the beef and cook until browned.
  4. Add back in the cooked broccoli along with the remaining sauce and cook for 2-3 minutes until broccoli is tender.
  5. Garnish with sesame seeds.

Pro Tip

For even more flavor, try marinating the beef in the sauce for 30-60 minutes prior to cooking for maximum flavor!

What ingredients do I need to make beef and broccoli stir fry?


  • Round Steak – sliced flank steak and chuck roast work as well.
  • Broccoli – fresh broccoli florets.
  • Neutral Oil no taste or flavor with high cooking temperature. Some choices are sunflower oil, peanut oil, sallower oil, vegetable oil, and canola oil. 
  • Toasted Sesame Seeds – optional garnish.
  • Garlic – fresh and grated.
  • Oyster Sauce – sauce made from oyster extracts, found at grocery stores.
  • Soy Sauce – low-sodium Soy Sauce preferred. Can also use tamari for gluten-free and coconut aminos for keto.  
  • Sweetener – use your preferred sweetener.
  • Chicken Broth – can also use beef broth inside.
  • Cooking Wine – Chinese cooking wine, Japanese sake or dry sherry wine all can be used.
  • Xanthan Gum Xanthan Gum powder used as a low carb thickener.

Stir Fry

  • 3/4 lb Round Steak
  • 1 Cup Broccoli
  • 1 tbsp Cooking Oil neutral, no flavor or taste
  • 1 tsp Toasted Sesame Seed optional


  • 2 Clove Garlic
  • 1/2 tbsp Oyster Sauce eliminate for strict carb counting but will alter taste
  • 1 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Sweetener your preferred sweetener
  • 1/4 Cup Chicken Broth
  • 2 tsp Chinese cooking wine can replace with dry sherry or Japanese sake
  • 1/8 tsp Xanthan Gum or thickener of choice


  • Gather all the ingredients.

  • Grate garlic and place into mixing bowl.

  • Add Oyster Sauce, Soy Sauce, sweetener, chicken broth, cooking wine, Xanthan Gum into the same mixing bowl and well mix. Now split the sauce into 2 bowls of equal parts.

  • Pat down the round steak with a paper towel then slice the steaks into 1/4 inch thick strips. Transfer sliced beef into 1 of the bowls from step 3), mix well and set aside. You can optional marinade the meat for 30-60 minutes for extra flavor.

  • Wash, cut broccoli into bite size pieces and set aside.

  • In a large frying pan or wok, add cooking oil and bring up to temperature over high heat. Once the oil is preheated, carefully add broccoli, stir well and cook for 1 minute. Once 1 minute has passed, remove broccoli and set on a holding plate.
