Black Pepper Chicken Panda Express Copycat

My family and I love panda express for those quick Chinese food cravings, but we also know that most of their menu items are packed carbs.

That’s why I created a black pepper chicken recipe that not only rivals the Panda Express version but is also low carb friendly!

It’s a super easy dish from start to finish and I guarantee that once you make this you will be making it over and over again!

This recipe is a copycat of Panda Express’ black pepper chicken.  Stir fried chicken breast, sliced onions and bell peppers are tossed in a black pepper sauce and cooked under high heat.

What is this black pepper sauce used in the stir fry?

This low carb version of black pepper sauce includes soy sauce, oyster sauce, black pepper, garlic powder, sweetener and chicken broth.  The sauce goes great with veggies, chicken, beef and even fish!

  • Use high heat with an accompanying neutral high temp frying oil.
  • Use a deep frying pan or a wok to maintain heat in the pan.
  • Make sure you prep and chop all ingredients because stir frying goes really quickly.

Ingredients

Chicken Stir Fry

  • 1 lb Chicken Breast
  • 1/3 Cup Sliced Red Bell Pepper (about 1/2 of a bell pepper)
  • 1/4 Cup Sliced Onion (about 1/4 of a medium sized onion)
  • 1 Stick Celery
  • 1 tbsp Neutral High Temp Cooking Oil
  • 1/8 tsp Salt
  • 1/8 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1/4 tsp Toasted Sesame Seeds (optional)

Sauce

  • 1 1/2 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Oyster Sauce
  • 3/4 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Sweetener (sugar alternative, sugar or preferred sweetener)
  • 1 tbsp Chicken Broth

Directions

1) Gather all the ingredients.

2) Chop chicken breast into bite-size cubes, sprinkle salt and black pepper and set aside.

3) Slice red bell pepper, onions, and chop celery as shown below.

4) In a mixing bowl, combine Soy Sauce, Oyster Sauce, black pepper, garlic powder, sweetener, and chicken broth.  Mix well and set aside.

5) In a deep Teflon frying pan or Wok, add neutral cooking oil and bring up to temp on high heat.  Once up to temp and the oil is lightly smoking, add cubed chicken and cook for 1 minute.

6) After 1 minute, add red bell pepper, onions, and celery.  Cook until chicken is cooked through, about 3-4 minutes.

7) Once chicken is cooked, add in the sauce.  Combine well and then transfer to a serving plate.  Top with optional Toasted Sesame Seeds and serve hot.
