What are Green Onion Cheese Rolls?

These green onion keto cheese rolls are made with almond flour, cream cheese, shredded mozzarella, and seasonings. They are a great low carb, keto-friendly, gluten-free, and sugar-free bread/roll alternative and very easy to make.

Just keep in mind that these cheese rolls are gluten-free that’s made entirely out of cheese and almond flour, so it won’t achieve the same texture of bread made from gluten and wheat.

However, what you’ll get is a bread roll that’s slightly denser but full, and I mean full of amazing flavors, and will satisfy your carb cravings! Plus these rolls are dense, so they’re ultra filling and one little roll goes a long way!

What ingredients do I need and how do you make keto cheese bread?

  • Almond Flour – Finely sifted and blanched works best.
  • Baking Powder – used to help the cheese rolls rise.
  • Cream Cheese – use block cream cheese. Room temperature preferred.
  • Mozzarella Cheese – pre-shredded dry mozzarella cheese. Do not use fresh mozzarella.
  • Green Onions – Washed and finely chopped.
  • Butter – you can use salted or unsalted.
  • Salt – table salt, or sea salt.
  • Black Pepper – fresh ground or pre-ground black pepper.
  • Garlic Powder – is used to enhance the flavor of the cheese bread rolls. Found in the spice section in supermarkets.
  • Egg – beaten and used for egg wash to enhance the color and shine of the bread.

Combine almond flour, baking powder, and garlic powder in a bowl. In a separate bowl, microwave mozzarella and cream cheese in 15 second intervals until completely melted.

Add almond flour mixture and knead to form a dough. Then add cooked green onions and combine well. Work quickly forming the dough into balls, place on baking mat, brush with egg wash sprinkle a little green onion on top and bake for 15-17 minutes until rolls are firm and slightly golden brown.
