These green onion keto cheese rolls are made with almond flour, cream cheese, shredded mozzarella, and seasonings. They are a great low carb, keto-friendly, gluten-free, and sugar-free bread/roll alternative and very easy to make.
Just keep in mind that these cheese rolls are gluten-free that’s made entirely out of cheese and almond flour, so it won’t achieve the same texture of bread made from gluten and wheat.
However, what you’ll get is a bread roll that’s slightly denser but full, and I mean full of amazing flavors, and will satisfy your carb cravings! Plus these rolls are dense, so they’re ultra filling and one little roll goes a long way!
What ingredients do I need and how do you make keto cheese bread?
- Almond Flour – Finely sifted and blanched works best.
- Baking Powder – used to help the cheese rolls rise.
- Cream Cheese – use block cream cheese. Room temperature preferred.
- Mozzarella Cheese – pre-shredded dry mozzarella cheese. Do not use fresh mozzarella.
- Green Onions – Washed and finely chopped.
- Butter – you can use salted or unsalted.
- Salt – table salt, or sea salt.
- Black Pepper – fresh ground or pre-ground black pepper.
- Garlic Powder – is used to enhance the flavor of the cheese bread rolls. Found in the spice section in supermarkets.
- Egg – beaten and used for egg wash to enhance the color and shine of the bread.
Combine almond flour, baking powder, and garlic powder in a bowl. In a separate bowl, microwave mozzarella and cream cheese in 15 second intervals until completely melted.
Add almond flour mixture and knead to form a dough. Then add cooked green onions and combine well. Work quickly forming the dough into balls, place on baking mat, brush with egg wash sprinkle a little green onion on top and bake for 15-17 minutes until rolls are firm and slightly golden brown.

Ingredients
- 3/4 Cup Almond Flour
- 1/2 tbsp Baking Powder
- 2 oz Cream Cheese
- 1 1/4 Cups Pre-Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
- 1 Cup Chopped Green Onion (about 3 Stalks Green Onions)
- 1 tbsp Butter
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 1/4 tsp Black Pepper
- 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 Egg (Egg Wash)
Directions
1) Gather all ingredients.
2) Preheat oven to 350F and line baking sheet with silicone baking mat (parchment paper works as well).
3) Chop green onions and set aside.
4) In a small Teflon frying pan, add butter on medium-low heat until melted. Once melted, add in chopped green onions, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Cook for 2-3 minutes until tender and then remove from heat.
5) Combine Almond Flour and Baking Powder in a bowl. Mix well and set aside.
6) In a different large microwavable bowl, add shredded mozzarella and cream cheese. Microwave for 30-45 seconds, take out and stir, then microwave for 30-45 more seconds and stir again. Continue this process until the cheese is completely melted.
7) Add the Almond Flour mixture into the cheese bowl while still warm, quickly knead with hands until dough like consistency and everything is fully combined. If dough cools too much just microwave for a few seconds, take out and knead again.
8) Combine cooked green onions with cheese roll mix. Once combined, separate into 6 equal parts, form buns and place onto a silicone baking mat. Repeat until all the mix is used.
9) Beat egg in a bowl and gently brush onto buns (egg wash).
10) Bake for 15-17 minutes, until buns are firm and slightly golden brown. Enjoy warm!
