A cold and refreshing Iced Matcha Latte recipe just like the ones you order at Starbucks. This Starbucks copycat recipe is a revitalizing drink that recharges and energizes you while giving you all the health benefits that matcha provides.
Iced matcha latte was made for matcha lovers! Creamy and slightly sweetened, this recipe is so easy and only requires three ingredients.
No need to wait in the long lines at your local Starbucks. Just make it at home!
What is Iced Matcha Latte?
This drink is a Starbucks copycat but made with sugar-free friendly ingredients. Matcha is mixed with hot water and monkfruit erythritol blend. Then ice and heavy cream is added for a low carb & keto friendly Iced Matcha Latte recipe.
What is Matcha?
Matcha is finely ground powder from green tea leaves that are grown specifically in the shade, which produces more theanine and caffeine.
The theanine in the tea leaves is what promotes relaxation, reduces stress and improves sleep, as well as boosts concentration and alertness.
The entire process of making matcha takes several weeks, which may explain the hefty price, however, the benefits are undeniable!
What type of matcha should I use?
I always prefer loose matcha powder but you can also use matcha tea bags for ease if you prefer.
When purchasing matcha powder, notice there is culinary grade and ceremonial grade. Their prices differ greatly.
Culinary is less expensive and will work fine for this recipe.
Ceremonial grade is more expensive and is also very bright green in color compared to culinary grade.
Is matcha low carb & keto friendly?
At only 1 g carb per tsp, Matcha powder is very keto friendly. Just beware of getting pre-mixed matcha lattes as many do contain sugar.
Tips or tricks for making this iced matcha latte recipe?
- Using matcha tea bags will save you time and money at the cost of having a lighter flavor.
- If using loose matcha powder, remember culinary is less expensive and ceremonial is very expensive. Both work for this recipe.
- Substitute heavy cream for half and half if preferred.
- You can also use almond milk in place of water for an almond milk matcha latte.
