Orange Rum Soda

One of my favorite alcohol spirits to drink during the wintertime is rum simply because it reminds me of a sunny tropical island somewhere in the Caribbeans, and that’s where I’d rather be!

But if you’ve ever had rum straight up, it’s pretty hard to drink!  It’s much better served as a sweet cocktail, garnished with a slice of orange or coconut and a little umbrella sticking out, lounging out in the sun with the sounds of ocean waves and without a care in the world…I digress.

Anyway, back to the reality of being stuck in the middle of winter sitting in front of my computer, I wanted to make a low-carb/keto rum cocktail to at least pretend we’re on a tropical island!

So after a couple of test batches, we finalized this Orange Rum Soda that offers subtle hints of orange followed by bubbly rum sweetness!

It’s very easy to make and only requires you to make a the sugarless simple syrup.  From there, we just peel some orange peels and mixing it all with the carbonated water and rum of choice.

Super easy to make and it’s best enjoyed while closing your eyes and imagining yourself on a tropical paradise!  And for our visitors that happen to live on one of these tropical islands, do you have an open room?!

The ingredients you would need for this recipe would be just Swerve/Monkfruit, carbonated water and something to zest or extract out the essential oils of the orange peels with.

We make our carbonated water with a SodaStream, but you can just use a store-bought one if you prefer.  We also recommend the proper cocktail glassware.  You can pick all of these items up at Amazon.
