Why I Love This Recipe

I absolutely adore this recipe for its simplicity and incredible flavor profile, it’s a total game-changer for any pork belly lover like myself! Crafted from the finest ingredients, including soy sauce, freshly grated garlic, and a kick of chili, this dipping sauce brings together elements of traditional Taiwanese flavors passed down from my father-in-law with my own Japanese-style touches!

Tailored specifically to complement Asian-style pork belly dishes, such as my Boiled Pork Belly, Crispy Pork Belly, and Steamed Pork Belly, it’s truly a match made in heaven! With just a quick mix, you’ll unlock a burst of garlicky, savory goodness with a hint of delightful flavors, perfect for anyone seeking an easy and authentic Asian-inspired sauce. Trust me, once you try this, you’ll find yourself reaching for it every time you prepare pork belly—it’s simply irresistible!

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • Soy Sauce – low-sodium Soy Sauce preferred. Can also use tamari for gluten-free.
  • Garlic Cloves – freshly grated or pressed garlic.
  • Chili Oil – also known as “La Yu” and can be found in most Asian supermarkets.
  • Green Onions – fresh chopped green onion scallions.

🧄 Garlic Note

Make sure to Grate or Press the Garlic rather than mincing it. Mincing doesn’t allow the garlic to release its oils fully, which is crucial for the sauce’s flavor profile.

💡 Sauce Pro Tip

I recommend Preparing in Advance and Refrigerating It. Allowing the sauce to sit in the fridge will give it time to meld its flavors.

Pairing Recommendations

This sauce is specifically crafted to pair perfectly with my Steamed Pork Belly, Boiled Pork Belly, or Crispy Pork Belly recipes, but can be paired with my other pork recipes like Japanese Seared Pork Belly or even my Crispy Air Fryer Pork Belly dish!
