Pumpkin Pie Smoothie

This keto low carb pumpkin pie smoothie is everything that’s good in the pie but made into a drink!

During the fall, I’m always looking for new pumpkin recipes to make and it just so happened that I stumbled upon an interesting one the other day.

The words contained ‘Pumpkin Pie Smoothie’ and I knew I had to find a way to make it low-carb/keto friendly for LCA!  Or at least for my own pleasure and satisfaction!

The only problem was that most pumpkin smoothies require bananas and for those of you new to low-carb/keto, bananas although a fruit, are very high in carbs and not very low-carb/keto friendly.

So I started experimenting and found that using coconut cream gave the smoothie a slightly more thick and creamy consistency similar to that of banana but with a slight coconut flavor.

The end result was a smoothie that blew mine and my husbands (not a pumpkin lover) socks off!

Not only was it good, but it was addictive, so much so that I was thinking about it days after I first made it!

You can have this smoothie anytime of day without feeling guilty because this recipe was made to be low-carb/keto!  It’s sugar free and very low in carbs, believe it or not!

Now, if you’re new to the low-carb/keto, you might be asking yourself, is pumpkin low in carbs?

Well, I’m here to tell you that pumpkin in its natural state without any additives, is in fact low in carbs and can definitely be incorporated into your diet as long you are not eating large amounts.  But of course, that goes with anything you’re eating.

For reference, 1/2 cup of canned pumpkin contains 6 g net carbs so this smoothie with all the included ingredients contains less than 7g of carbs.

Pumpkins are also packed with vitamins, minerals and are also a great source of beta-carotene (vitamin A) and Vitamin C. Beta-carotene is an antioxidant that may protect your cells against free radicals.  Vitamin A has been linked to strong eye sight while vitamins A and C are shown to boost your immune system.

Pumpkins are also nutrient dense while being low in calories which can help with weight loss.

So if you are a fan of pumpkin pie and smoothies, don’t pass up this recipe.  I promise you won’t regret this delicious and low-carb/keto treat!
