Why I Love This Recipe

I’m absolutely in love with my Spam Musubi Sauce because it’s the perfect blend of sweet and savory, designed specifically to add that extra flavor to my Hawaiian Spam Musubi or Air Fried Spam Musubi! Handcrafted in my own kitchen after many different variations, this sauce is my own creation, inspired by my popular Spam Musubi in a Bowl and Spam Egg Rice Bowl recipe!

Starting with my signature Teriyaki Sauce base, I’ve fine-tuned the flavor profile to perfectly complement the flavors of spam. Simply simmer the ingredients in a saucepan until thickened, let it cool, then brush it onto your musubi—it’s as easy as that! If you’re craving a burst of flavor in every bite, this sauce is a game-changer. Trust me, once you try it, you’ll never want to make spam musubi without it again!

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • Garlic  freshly grated garlic. Used to provide the extra flavor in the sauce.
  • Japanese Sake – typically will come in a large bottle labeled junmai sake. Can also substitute with dry sherry wine or Chinese cooking wine, found at local grocery stores or Asian markets. Helps round out the flavor of the sauce.
  • Sweetener – use your preferred sweetener.
  • Soy Sauce – low-sodium Soy Sauce preferred. Can also use tamari for gluten-free. Used as the base falvor for the musubi sauce.
  • Thickener – corn starch slurry, Xanthan Gum for low carb, or thickener of choice.
