  • Mahi Mahi Filets– bone-less and skin-less fillets. Fresh or frozen. If frozen, be sure to defrost as instructed on the packaging.
  • Coconut Flour – fine ground Coconut Flour. Can sub with regular all purpose flour.
  • Neutral Oil no taste or flavor with high cooking temperature. Some choices are sunflower oil, peanut oil, sallower oil, vegetable oil, and canola oil.
  • Roasted Macadamia Nuts – lightly salted and Roasted Macadamia Nuts. 
  • Sweetener – use your preferred sweetener. 
  • Sriracha – Asian style chill sauce.
  • Ketchup – regular ketchup.
  • Garlic Powder – ground in a bottle.
  • Thickener – corn starch slurry, Xanthan Gum for low carb, or thickener of choice.

Step 1 Add macadamia nuts into a food processor and blend until crumbs are formed.

Step 2 Prepare the sauce by combing water, sweetener, Sriracha, ketchup, and garlic powder in a small saucepan under medium heat and bring to a soft boil. Add your thickener of choice and stir until thickened.

🥄 Corn Starch Pro Tip

If using Corn Starch Slurry as a thickener, prepare a mixture of 1 Tablespoon of Corn Starch and 2 Tablespoons of Water in a mixing bowl. Gradually add this mixture to your sauce until it reaches the desired thickness.

Step 3 Start with patting dry the mahi mahi fillets with a paper towel and applying flour on both sides of the fillet.

Step 4 Add cooking oil of choice into a large skillet and bring up to temp under medium heat. Add mahi mahi fillets and cook for 1-2 minutes per side until browned.

Instructions

  • Gather all the ingredients.

  • Add neutral oil to a large frying pan and bring up to temp. Once up to temp, carefully add mahi-mahi fillets. Cover and cook for 1-2 minutes per side and then transfer to a serving plate.
